Roots before branches. Always.
The land does not care about your story. It only responds to how you show up.
I have been watching plants do what people keep refusing to do. Root first. Then the rest. Rush it and you get a tall, thin thing that snaps in the first wind.
A man with deep roots does not need to announce how strong he is when the wind picks up.
Discipline is how a man votes for the future version of himself every single day. Not a mood. A vote. The allotment, the bank, the food, the sleep, the people you let near the work. That is the ballot.
Staying sober is the baseline. Building a life worth staying sober for is the actual work.
I cook from what I grow when I can. JERF. One plate. Nothing fancy. The same hands that tie a rig can put dinner on the table. That is not content. That is how you stay free.
